Crete

Crete is the largest island in Greece, and the fifth largest one in the Mediterranean Sea. The majestic island of Crete is where the Minoan civilization was created and is considered the base of the European civilization as we know it today. Crete is a small universe in which you can admire the remnants of brilliant civilizations, glorious beaches, impressive mountainscapes, steep gorges, fertile valleys, and become part of the island’s rich gastronomic culture.

The island is separated in 4 prefectures: Heraklion, Chania, Rethymno, and Lassithi, all of them full of beauties and treasures that you will probably need a lifetime to uncover!

Heraklion
The vibrant city of Heraklion is the capital of the island. Traditional villages, spread around the city exquisitely cohort with its contemporary character. Chania

Rethymno
Located between the busy regions of Heraklion and Chania, the imposing White Mountains and the famous Psiloritis mountain, Rethymno on Crete island keeps its calm paces even in high season. Visitors can admire its rich agricultural landscape composed mainly of olive groves, vineyards and orange groves known throughout the world and rare varieties of plants and herbs. Visitors will love the Venetian style of Rethymnon Town, the traditional inland villages and the lovely beaches, ideal for long relaxing days under the sun.

Lasithi
The journey ends at the easternmost region of the island, Lasithi. Outside the busy resort of Elounda, the prefecture of Lassithi on Crete island gives an authentic sight in the traditional Cretan life. Famous for its beaches you will be amazed by the tropical landscape and the palm tree forest on the beach of Vai, protected by the Natura network.
